14th International CFT Conference in Birmingham, UK
About The Compassionate Mind Foundation
The Compassionate Mind Foundation was founded as an international charity in 2006 by
Professor Paul Gilbert and colleagues including Prof Deborah Lee, Dr Mary Welford, Dr Chris Irons, Dr Ken Goss, Dr Ian Lowens, Dr Chris Gillespie, Diane Woollands and Jean Gilbert.
We believe that one of the greatest challenges facing humanity is how to stimulate compassionate ways of thinking and problem solving for the benefit of all.
The Compassionate Mind Foundation promotes an evolutionary and biopsychosocial informed approach to compassion which now forms the basis of a psychotherapy –Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Compassionate Mind Training (CMT).
The theme of this year’s International International CFT Conference is Transforming Minds Through Compassion.
Oct. 8, 2025, 3:15 PM - 4:45 PM, Dr. Patricia Gerbarg & Dr. Richard Brown are delighted to be delivering a keynote and experiential session (via live online link) on Breath-Body-Mind: Connection, Co-regulation, and Compassion.
In this interactive, experiential Breath-Body-Mind (BBM) session, you will be guided through easily learned, evidence-based mind-body techniques that fuse breathing with simple movement and guided relaxation practices. BBM is derived from many ancient practices, including yoga, qigong, martial arts, meditation, and modern neuropsychiatry.
Enjoy rounds of accessible, safe, evidence-based breathing and gentle movement practices to feel the restorative benefits and a positive shift in your psychological and physiological state. Learn how you can positively affect your state and your capacity to respond to challenging situations and people with grounded compassion.
For over 20 years, BBM practices have been successfully applied across a broad range of populations, including supporting medical and mental health professionals and frontline workers experiencing burnout and fatigue. BBM has been taught in many crisis situations around the world. We will share some insight into the BBM model for self-empowerment, supporting individuals, groups and community leadership programs.
